Marketplace fee
The commission a marketplace charges on completed work for connecting buyers and sellers.
A marketplace fee is the commission a platform charges for matching customers with service providers and running the transaction between them. It is usually charged as a percentage of the agreed price, and it typically applies only when work is actually completed and paid - not for browsing, posting, or quoting.
The fee is what pays for the things a classifieds site does not give you: verified providers, a structured offer-and-agreement process, protected payment handling, and a dispute process if the job goes wrong. When you compare marketplaces, compare what the fee buys - a cheaper platform that leaves payment entirely to trust can cost far more than the fee difference when something goes sideways.
A marketplace fee is also separate from payment processing. Card-based platforms often stack a processing percentage on top of their commission. On wlbr there are no card processing fees at all, because payments are funded bank-to-bank via open banking.
On wlbr task, completed jobs carry a 10% marketplace fee in addition to the flat 2% wlbr pay escrow fee - both GST-inclusive and both charged on the agreed price. Operators always see their exact net take-home before they quote, so there are no surprises.
